Born in Vancouver BC, a city surrounded by water. We are sport and adventure obsessed, constantly inspired by the temperate waters of British Columbia.
Surface Athletic was founded in 2024 by water enthusiasts with a shared passion for performance, design, and the water. Growing up surrounded by the ocean, we saw firsthand the limitations of conventional swimwear in high-impact activities. This insight, combined with our industrial design expertise, inspired us to create a new standard in swimwear.
Our goal is simple: to provide high-performing swimwear that meets the demands of the active and adventurous. Our designs are crafted to stay in place, dry quickly, and withstand demanding sports, offering performance without sacrificing style. Watersport is the next frontier for application of advanced materials and design. Thoughtful design and testing can elevate the functional aspects of swimwear and greatly increase comfort and enjoyment for users.
We work constantly, researching and striving for opportunities to reinvent and improve water gear. We look outside of the existing conventions for inspiration and technological innovations that can improve people’s experiences in and on the water.

The ocean is our ancient home, a place of connection and endless discovery. At Surface Athletic, we strive to remove barriers and challenges that keep people from experiencing the water’s beauty and power.
Through community-building events centered around shared sports and ocean adventures, we strive to bring people together to explore, compete, and grow. By fostering a network of water lovers, we also create a collective force dedicated to protecting and preserving our waters for future generations.
Sustainability
Performance and sustainability are a constant balancing act in sportswear. At Surface Athletic, we recognize the challenge of finding high-performance synthetic fabrics that are also environmentally friendly. We’re not perfect yet, but we are committed to improving every day—relentlessly searching for innovative organic and biodegradable alternatives that meet our performance standards without compromising the planet.
Beyond materials, we actively support environmental conservation, donating a portion of our proceeds to organizations like Greenpeace and the Surfrider Foundation to help protect our oceans for future generations.
